# Pompeii Tickets: Prices, Types and Booking Information

Visiting Pompeii requires choosing not only the date and entrance time, but also the ticket that best suits your itinerary. The standard ticket covers the ancient city, while other options include the suburban villas or additional archaeological sites in the surrounding area.

Pompeii tickets are personal and non-transferable. Each ticket shows the visitor’s name, date and entrance time, and Park staff may ask to see an identification document.

## Which Pompeii Ticket Should You Choose?

The Archaeological Park offers several admission options. The prices shown below are the official base rates. Online presale or service fees may be added during booking.

### Pompeii Express – €20

Pompeii Express includes one admission to the ancient city of Pompeii.

Visitors can explore the streets, houses, temples, baths, theatres and public buildings that are open on the day of the visit.

The ticket does not include the Villa of the Mysteries, the Villa of Diomedes, Villa Regina in Boscoreale or the Antiquarium of Boscoreale.

It is the most suitable option for visitors who want to concentrate on the central archaeological area and explore Pompeii independently.

### Pompeii+ – €25

Pompeii+ includes:

- the ancient city of Pompeii;
- the Villa of the Mysteries;
- the Villa of Diomedes;
- Villa Regina in Boscoreale;
- the Antiquarium of Boscoreale;
- the shuttle service connecting the included sites.

This ticket is better suited to visitors who have more time and want to explore the suburban villas in addition to the central archaeological city.

Visitors who already hold a Pompeii Express ticket can currently add the suburban-villas route by purchasing an €8 supplement. The supplement must be purchased by card at the beginning of the route near Porta Ercolano.

- the Villa of Poppaea at Oplontis;
- Villa Arianna and Villa San Marco at Stabiae;
- the Libero D’Orsi Archaeological Museum of Stabiae;
- Villa Regina and the Antiquarium of Boscoreale;
- the connecting shuttle service.

The ticket is valid for three days and allows one entrance to each included site during its respective opening days.

### MyPompeii Annual Pass – €45

The MyPompeii annual pass is valid for one year from its first use and provides repeated access to the archaeological sites managed by the Archaeological Park of Pompeii.

The pass is personal and non-transferable. An identification document may be requested at the entrance.

A reduced annual rate of €10 is available to eligible European Union citizens under the age of 25. Online presale fees may be added.

### Reduced Ticket – €2

The €2 reduced ticket is available to eligible European Union citizens aged from 18 to under 25.

The reduction also applies to certain eligible non-European Union citizens holding a residence permit in Italy. Visitors must present a valid document proving their age and eligibility.

Other free-admission and reduced-rate categories are governed by Italian cultural-heritage regulations.

## Are Pompeii Tickets Personal?

Yes. Admission tickets show the visitor’s name and are non-transferable.

Visitors may be asked to present an identity document at the entrance. The name on the document must correspond to the name printed on the ticket.

Carefully check the visitor’s name, date and selected entrance time before completing the purchase.

## Do I Need to Choose an Entrance Time?

Yes. Standard official tickets are issued for a specific date and entrance time slot.

Pompeii has a daily limit of 20,000 admissions. From 16 March to 14 October, the available admissions are divided into:

- up to 15,000 visitors between 9:00 and 13:00;
- up to 5,000 visitors between 13:00 and the final admission time.

Availability can become limited during weekends, public holidays and the busiest travel periods. Advance booking is recommended when your visiting date is fixed.

Some commercial products may offer different booking conditions or greater flexibility. Always check the information shown on the selected ticket page.

## Where Can I Buy Official Pompeii Tickets?

The official online ticketing platform indicated by the Archaeological Park of Pompeii is Vivaticket.

**[Purchase an official Pompeii admission ticket through Vivaticket](https://www.vivaticket.com/it/ticket/pompeii/295564)**

Official ticket offices are located at the three main entrances:

- Porta Marina;
- Piazza Esedra;
- Piazza Anfiteatro.

Tickets purchased online can be printed or shown on a smartphone before proceeding to the entrance controls.

Other booking platforms may offer reserved admission, audioguides, guided tours, transport or combined experiences. Always check exactly what is included, where the meeting point is located and whether the booking can be cancelled or rescheduled.

## Can I Leave Pompeii and Re-Enter?

No. Pompeii Express and Pompeii+ are valid for one entrance only.

Once you leave the archaeological area, you cannot use the same ticket to enter again. The same rule applies to each individual archaeological site included in the three-day pass.

Plan meals, transport and the duration of your visit before passing through the exit.

## Which Entrance Should I Use?

Pompeii has three main public entrances.

**Porta Marina** is close to the Pompei Scavi–Villa dei Misteri Circumvesuviana station.

**Piazza Esedra** is convenient for reaching the Antiquarium and is frequently used as a meeting area for organised guided tours.

**Piazza Anfiteatro** provides access to the eastern side of the ancient city and to the Pompeii for All accessible itinerary.

Visitors who have booked a guided tour must follow the meeting-point instructions printed on their voucher. The tour meeting point may be outside the archaeological entrance.

## Is Pompeii Free on the First Sunday of the Month?

Admission is normally free on the first Sunday of each month as part of the Italian Domenica al Museo programme.

Free-entry days can be particularly busy. Special entrance procedures, capacity limits or access arrangements may apply.

Check the current instructions before travelling to Pompeii on a free-admission day.

## Entrance Ticket or Guided Tour?

An entrance ticket allows you to explore Pompeii independently using a map or an authorised audioguide.

A guided tour is more suitable for visitors who want historical context, a carefully planned itinerary and explanations of the houses, temples, baths, streets and public buildings.
